Our Spiritual Revival: Once More About 2024

It’s late afternoon on NYE 2024. Half the world has already welcomed 2025 with pyrotechnics, paper mâché and prayers. Those of us in the western hemisphere will catch-up shortly; a matter of hours as the earth spins once more around the sun. Marking a new year only because we’ve collectively agreed on this human centric organization of consciousness. We measure time, God makes time.

We have no company visiting us this year, trying to cajole us to spend NYE on the Vegas Strip with them. An introvert’s worst nightmare. An introvert who once celebrated NYE in Times Square earlier in this century. An introvert pushing outside of his own safe space because of his love for another human. The only human I have called the love of my life.

Realizing a decade later, that God is the Love of my life. I have and love many people, and I know other people have loved/love me as well, but God is the source of all love. God is love.

Because Love endures, hope is eternal. Hope for a prosperous and healthy New Year, hope for peace on earth, and hope for good will among all people. A message that was never intended to be seasonal but for all seasons.

I believe there is a spiritual revival taking place across the US and the western world that’s both personal and generational. Free thinking individuals humbling their hearts and surrendering to a power greater than any human, the source of all creation, life and love; God. The source of all Truth.

This crumbling of public trust in false American narratives like “justice is blind”, “we’re always the good guys*”, “the government would never harm you”, “follow the science” and “freedom of expression is protected” is profound, pronounced and permanent.

My blind faith in past institutions has ended (government, media, medicine, etc.). My days of not questioning and thoughtlessly supporting all the suffering, death and destruction that our government has unleashed on the world and its own citizens is over. My allegiance is to God alone, and his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.

Most of my adult years were never about serving God, only myself and our ruling class. I’m trying to change this self-serving ethic. Instead living the ethic of serving others to honor God. An ethic I still struggle with fulfilling. Pursuing the garden while living in the wilderness.

With the arrival of 2025, I’m cautiously optimistic that all the public and covert wars that the US government is funding will end. That we and our children will have access to healthier food, better healthcare and a clean and safe environment. That economic and self-improvement opportunities are available to everyone, and character alone is what matters in all situations.

My hope for only good things, is tempered by history and experience. People I have looked up to have disappointed me, and I have no doubt returned that disappointment. Politicians will inevitability disappoint you, either prince or priest. Question everyone and everything. Place your faith in God alone.

We’re called as followers of Jesus, to make a difference in the world with every year and every minute of our life. Shining our light brightly in a world that is dark and dangerous at times to live a life of doing unto others. Truth in action.

Not because any government requires us, or other people requires us or that even God requires us to do what’s right. Followers of Jesus try to do what’s right simply because we want to honor God. Free will, free determination without any coercion or conflict of interest, love at its purest.

I am hopeful for the world, optimistic for everyone in my life and confident that God will continue to provide, persuade and power my life. Certain that challenges will arise, and sorrow will inevitably follow, but Love will keep us together. The Love that has continued with all of us throughout our earthly years because our Love is constant, consistent and continuous. Because our Love is God.

Happy New Year 2025. Soli Deo gloria. God loves you!
