Politics as Faith or Faith in Politics: Why You Cannot Serve Two Kingdoms

There was a time in my life when my ultimate loyalty, my sense of truth, and my definition of right and wrong existed in and with the institutions of this world; particularly our government. Naively believing that the politicians I elect and the bureaucracy I fund through my hard work would do no harm to any human anywhere.

My false faith in my government was because I lacked true faith in God. And like George Michael sang, I gotta’ have faith. Everyone has faith in something; a reason to get out of bed and continue to participate in life.

What fueled my misguided faith, was my erroneous belief that my political party was always right, never wrong. I believed that my political opponents were immoral, because truth could only reside with my people. I believed in dehumanizing other humans, so I could feel better about myself. Having actual enemies allowed me to be a hollow hero at least online.

Understanding later in my life that political parties cannot exist without an enemy. An enemy being anyone that disagrees with the official party narrative. Teaching its members to hate your enemies and pray for their persecution. A perfect coincidence to eliminate any opposition; a perfect concurrence used by evil to harm God’s good creation.

Any individual or entity that proclaims a message of “us vs. them” has nothing to do with love, but everything to do with fear and divisiveness. Moral worth is warped and weakened. It becomes self-serving because it’s about making yourself feel better by tearing down others. Often publicly and rarely without any real effort to engage in sincere and humble dialogue.

When we make other humans our enemy, our eyes are somehow miraculously free of any specs. We’re without sin and now it’s easy to judge and punish those that need to be destroyed to cleanse the world. This is about worshipping yourself, not honoring God. Pride truly is the deadliest of sins. It blinds us to love and closes our hearts off from God.

Like Judas realizing that evil had used him, I understand that I gave my blind loyalty to men and women who have contributed nothing of real value to the world. In my lifetime, I’ve only seen my nation grow sicker, poorer and crazier. Our political class has preyed on the most vulnerable in our society.

A red pill awakening, because there is no Democratic or Republican political party, only the political class. The uniparty; the status quo; the swamp. An entrenched establishment of elites that exist only to enrich themselves no matter the cost to their constituents.

My blind loyalty to the kingdoms of this world; Babylon, Rome or the United States ending when I saw the Light. The Truth not only set me free but saved my life. And like everything about love, and the ministry of Jesus, power is turned upside down.

Leaders are called to serve others, as opposed to having others serve them. Wealth isn’t something to be pursued at the expense of other people. Every action begins with the words, “does this honor my neighbor and God?”

Can you imagine any member of Congress asking this before any vote? Can you picture any government employee washing the feet of their constituents? Can you imagine there’s no egotism? It’s easy if you try, as opposed to only sky above us.

Love puts political parties out of business because our life is no longer about sowing division but seeding commonality. Finding ways in which everyone wins or is at least given the opportunity to participate and prosper. Those who are the most vulnerable are protected from predatory practices that are anti-love. Everyone is welcome because that is the true nature of love.

Jesus only knew too well, the pitfalls and perils of politics. When leaders believe they are god or above any law of love. Evil knowing human nature because we all have diminished love and injured God by our words and actions.

Someone who is a true leader will always give their life for their flock because they believe that God is the only giver of life. They walk humbly with God, because they know that God is the author of the universe. They seek justice and mercy because God requires justice and mercy. They honor God in everything that they do because God is love. God is never a political party, because lies and love are conflicting world views, and you can only serve one.

Peace. God loves you.
